<stocke> backdated to earlier this month, sorry about that
according to what i got from tikbalang he's the key
the rest of the group use him to translate old texts with spells and secrets for fighting monsters
taking him out of the picture won't make them lose what they already have but they shouldn't be able to get more
if we trust his word he's 16
the mask he wears glows green and is somewhat bird-like but it's no hardship to change masks
as far as i can tell he's not on the best of terms with the rest of the group
he's been barred from the network before and he's spent some time hiding with a monster as well
last i saw him he had a new weapon
a skeletal dog
if you find yourself confronting him don't let it touch you - it kills on contact
<latrodectus>
This raises some questions, but it answers a few too, which is more than we can usually say.
Is that all you've found out?
<stocke>
i know which monster he sheltered with but that's nothing difficult to find
[Not if you watch the network, anyway.]
[He does have some not useful, though.]
his word alone again
but his family was killed by monsters
and he seems to believe slaying us permanently will send us back where we came from
<latrodectus>
That's a nice way to rationalize it.
Wonder if he has anything to back it up or if it's just more speculation.
[Natasha has seen a lot more speculation here than actual proof when it comes to what happens to people who leave, one way or another.]
He must know something, though, if he's doing this work.
<stocke>
surprised that he bothers to rationalize
he was vehement enough the rest of the time that you'd assume he'd rather us simply dead
[Not that he blames Frank, exactly - monsters do eat humans. They have a right to self-defense. But monsters do as well, and it's a bit pointless to kill any when the fog god'll keep bringing in more.]
<latrodectus>
And obviously he's not above slumming it with us when it's convenient.
[It was possible to be cold enough for him to hide with monsters, certainly, especially if he viewed them as inhuman, but most people weren't that detached.
Natasha knew better than most people how rare that talent was.]
At least it explains why he has to put it in context like that.
<stocke>
convenient or not
[...]
xion's said he saved her life once
can't help but be suspicious he did it to get in a monster's good graces for later
not because he's truly sympathetic
[Stupid to try to convince all monsters - but one or two? That's doable.]
[Not that it doesn't have its own hazards, and he does seem to be on the outs with the rest of his group - that'd take a pretty good act if it was a lie. Stocke can't decide which conclusion to lean toward.]
<latrodectus>
Either that, or his position has evolved since then. I suppose that's another possibility.
Either way.
There's a lot of good reasons not to trust him. And to keep an eye out for him to show up again.
